Antioxidant action in diets with ground soybeans on ruminal microbial production, digestion, and fermentation in buffaloes R. Bras. Zootec.
Zeoula,Lucia Maria; Machado,Erica; Carraro,Jocasta; Aguiar,Sílvia Cristina; Yoshimura,Emerson Henri; Agustinho,Bruna Calvo; Santos,Fabio Seiji dos; Santos,Nadine Woruby.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of adding ground soybeans and antioxidants to diet of buffaloes on intake, ruminal microbial production, total and ruminal digestibility of nutrients, and ruminal fermentation parameters. Four crossbred buffaloes with a mean weight of 506±29 kg were distributed in a 4×4 Latin square. Four diets were tested: control; diet with ground soybeans; diet with ground soybeans and supplementation with yerba mate; and diet with ground soybeans and supplementation with yerba mate and vitamin E. The addition of ground soybeans had negative effects on intake of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber, and acid detergent fiber, as well as ruminal digestibility of neutral detergent...

Chemical and Fatty acid composition of different cuts cooked or uncooked from yearling bulls fed oil sources Animal Sciences
Oliveira, Emanuel Almeida de; Sampaio, Alexandre Amstalden Moraes; Henrique, Wignez; Pivaro, Thiago Martins; Rosa, Bruna Laurindo; Fernandes, Alexandre Rodrigo Mendes.
This study evaluated the chemical and lipid composition of uncooked or cooked loin (Longissimus thoracis) and rump (Biceps femoris) in samples of 2.54 cm thick from 35 carcasses of Nellore young bulls finished in feedlot for 96 days and slaughtered at an average weight of 532.17 ± 30.25 kg and 24 months of age. The rump had the lowest level of protein and ash (18.57 and 0.90%, respectively) and the highest level of ether extract compared to loin (3.37 and 1.90%, respectively). Higher levels of cholesterol were found in rump compared to loin (40.91 e 30.93 mg 100 g-1, respectively). The uncooked loin showed lower content of saturated fatty acids and higher content of polyunsaturated fatty acids. The best values for the omega-6: omega-3 ratio was observed in...

Intake, digestibility, performance and carcass characteristics of ewes fed crambe replacing soybean meal in the diet Animal Sciences
Goes, Rafael Henrique de Tonissi e Buschinelli de; Yoshihara Carneiro, Mayara Mitiko; Osmari, Milene Puntel; Souza, Kennyson Alves de; Oliveira, Raquel Tenório de; Souza, Charles Jhonnatan dos Santos.
The use of alternative sources of protein for ruminant can alter productivity and reduce costs in animal production. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance, apparent digestibility and quantitative characteristics of carcass components of ewes fed increasing levels (0, 50, 100 and 150 g kg-1 dry matter) of crambe crushed in the diets. Twenty-four culling ewes were distributed in a completely randomized design. All animals were kept in a shed, with individual stalls equipped with feeder, drinker and concrete floor covered with rice hulls. The animals received corn silage as roughage and diets were isoenergetic with 700 g kg-1 of TDN. Animals were slaughtered when reached a body condition score of 3.5 points. The dry matter intake (948.53 g...

Performance, carcass traits, and body composition of broilers fed different linseed oil levels between 21 and 56 days of age Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Duarte,KF; Junqueira,OM; Borges,LL; Rodrigues,E; Filardi,R da S; Praes,MFFM; Laurentiz,AC de; Domingues,CH de F.
This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of the inclusion of different linseed oil levels (0.0, 3.3, 6.6, or 9.9%) in iso-energy diets fed during the period of 21 to 56 days of age on the performance, carcass traits, and body composition of broilers. A total of 1,600 broilers were distributed according to a completely randomized experimental design consisting of four treatments with eight replicates of 40 birds per experimental unit. In the period of 21-42 days of age, weight gain increased, feed and calorie conversion ratios quadratically improved, and feed and metabolizable energy intakes linearly increased as dietary linseed oil level increased. Considering the entire experimental period, dietary linseed oil linearly increased weight gain and...

Performance, ingestive behavior and carcass traits of lambs fed rations containing soybean cake Animal Sciences
Sponchiado, Adilson; Nascimento, Eduardo Michelon do; Teixeira, Angélica Bonafede Martins; Fernandes, Sergio Rodrigo; Nascimento, Willian Gonçalves do; Freitas, José Antônio de.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance, ingestive behavior and carcass traits of crossbred Dorper x Santa Inês lambs fed rations containing soybean cake. Twenty-four lambs (4 months of age and 24.3 ± 3.1 kg BW) were used in a completely randomized design with four treatments and six replicates. Treatments were the inclusion of 50, 100 or 150 g kg-1 of soybean cake in the ration, on a DM basis, and a control diet without this ingredient. Rations were offered ad libitum for 75 days and the lambs were slaughtered at 35 to 40 kg BW. Dry matter intake reduced linearly and the average daily gain had a quadratic response to the soybean cake levels, also decreasing with the addition of this ingredient. The time spent feeding increased and the idle...

Prediction of non-carcass components in cattle R. Bras. Zootec.
Costa e Silva,Luiz Fernando; Marcondes,Marcos Inácio; Valadares Filho,Sebastião de Campos; Ribeiro,André Mauric Frossard; Prados,Laura Franco; Nascimento,Fernando Barros; Gionbelli,Mateus Pies; Santos,Ronald Matos dos.
This study was conducted to develop equations to predict chemical composition of head, limbs, hide and blood in cattle. A database containing 335 animals from 10 trials, with 221 Nellore, 38 Nellore-Simmental and 76 Nellore-Angus (96 steers, 118 heifers and 121 bulls) animals was used. Models were constructed to estimate water, ether extract (EE), crude protein (CP), ash and macrominerals (calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium and potassium) in the non-carcass parts of cattle. A stepwise procedure was conducted to determine the most significant variables within each model. Subsequently, a random coefficient model was used to construct the equation using studies as random effect, and sex and breed as fixed effects. The visceral fat was the most important...
